What is the green coffee bean?

There are two types of coffee; Robusta and Arabica. The green coffee bean is a product of the Arabica plant. This type of coffee bean is unroasted hence has a pale color unlike the normal rich, chocolate brown color other coffee beans have. Before the weight losing quality discovery, this type of coffee bean was rarely used due to its unpleasant taste.  It has been around for a very long time though and some people were still using it by then. The Arabica plant, of which the green coffee bean is from, has some polyphenol anti oxidants and chlorogenic acid. This is one of the properties that make it ideal for weight watchers. Other roasted coffee beans lack this anti oxidant content because they have under gone deep roasting which significantly reduces or completely gets rid of it. This puts the green coffee bean on a higher Pedestal than the ordinary coffee bean due to the fact that it is unroasted.

Contents of the extract:

The green coffee bean extract contains polyphenols which includes chlorogenic acid. The chlorogenic acids has biological effects which include anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities. The fact that the green coffee bean extract is derived from the Arabica plant means that it is much better as it is of a higher quality. The high levels of chlorogenic acid make the extract rich in beneficial qualities.

Roasted versus unroasted coffee

The green coffee bean is 100% organic. No chemicals are used on it for your safety which will later translate to good health. Allegedly, a lot of chemicals in the form of pesticides and herbicides are used on roasted coffee. Actually, it is estimated that over 1000 toxic chemicals are used. These chemicals are very harmful to your health as they are known to mimic hormones, cause kidney failure, congest your liver and could consequently promote the development and growth of cancer.
In the process of frying, baking and roasting, further destruction is brought about to the coffee as carcinogen is produced due to the high temperatures. This is as a result of the sugars being destroyed while the coffee beans are cooking. This in turn forms a chemical reaction.
There are vast benefits to generally drinking coffee but the benefits are bigger and better with the unroasted coffee beans.
